Battery Check It takes a few hours to check all the units. Schedule for end August allow time for any required battery replacements to be made
**SI unit Synchronisation ** Clock drift can be up to 3 seconds per day in extreme circumstances (outdoors and with temperature fluctuation).
It only takes about ten minutes to resynchronise a set using an SI master unit (which should be correctly timed using a computer first), Paul can teach how to do it. Plan to resynchronise at least before each of the weekends and possibly before the ASOC events too.
Time drift is critical for start and finish units, especially if more than one of these units is in use. Start/finish to be synched each day.
Radio Units Programming of radio control units can only be done with a computer, and shouldn’t be done between events. A a certain range of control numbers will be pre-programmed as radios (e.g. 135-145) and used consistently across all the events.
Control stands, flags and SI unit logistics#
OACT has:
383 control flags
146 BSF7 control stands (large baseplates) including 20 with Mesh-O mounts
33 BSF8 control stands (small baseplates) including 5 with Mesh-O mounts
10 BSF8 control stands without back-up punch
5 setters’ vests + 2 belts to carry SI units
Logistic plan for control flags, stands and SI units:
all SI units are set by ?? before first event/s (Middle / Relay)

Mesh-O Radio controls#
Planning needs to include number of Mesh-O equipped standas and radio units. Liaise with Mesh-O re protocol for obtaining, placing and charging radio units.
SAFETY MATTERS#
The following information shall be printed on all competition maps (test entered via course setting software)
Safety bearing
Course closure time
Emergency contact number (preferably OACT Sat phone or confirm Starlink available for standard mobile?)
